Benjy’s

When you’re ready enjoy a lunch or dinner with real style, this is the place to go on Washington Avenue.
Back to front, side to side and floor to ceiling, Benjy’s exudes a sense of having been extremely well thought out. A beautiful and spacious restaurant, an architect designed this building, not an engineer. A talented designer decorated it, not a restaurant supply depot. And the food I found to be exquisite.
I consumed a surf and turf, which substituted pan roasted Bryan Farms chicken breast with forest mushrooms for the ‘turf’. This is an excellent idea for a healthier you. Tender and juicy Gulf shrimp provided the ‘surf’. House ricotta cheese ravioli lie underneath, with brown gravy atop all, giving the dish an excellent texture. Portions were extremely satisfying. Also, service is not dead.
The entire staff is very friendly and professional. A team concept is obviously employed. The managers attend to the entire space, following up on any yet unmet needs.
The space itself consists of a roomy indoor dining area, with a modestly sized outdoor patio downstairs. The second floor transforms the restaurant into a posh lounge, with comfy and intimate seating. A surprisingly large outdoor patio area awaits outdoors on this level.
Other great foods include: Seared pork dumplings with orange ponzu sauce for appetizer, Pepper crusted sushi grade tuna nicoise salad with Dijon vinaigrette, mushroom pizza with fontina, pine nuts, and truffle oil, and miso glazed Canadian salmon heirloom tomato carpaccio with quinoa salad.
Just get there.
